Superman Legacy Starts Shooting Sooner Than You Think

VIEWER EMAIL: Aaron B - Hey guys. I divested myself of all my bitcoins and went all in on Europussy. I expect to be rich by summer. Ok, so probably my most anticipated movie after watching Guardians 3 is Superman Legacy. I just read that in an interview James Gunn has confirmed that the movie will start shooting in January. That’s just 8 months away! Do you think that with it still being 8 months out that all the strikes will be settled by the time it’s supposed to start or do you think there could be delays?

VIEWER EMAIL: Crowley’s Chauffeur - Hey John and crew. I know John was a big fan of Supernatural and I actually started watching it about 5 years ago because of John and instantly fell in love with it. The prequel series The Winchesters wasn’t great, but it was still Supernatural and I enjoyed watching it and looking forward to seeing how it would develop. Sadly I just read that it has been canceled after just 1 season. What do you think of this sad day John and do you thin there’s any chance for future Supernatural spin-off series?

VIEWER EMAIL: Film Zone! - So, looks like beetlejuice is getting married as Monica Bellucci is in talks to play his wife and looks like Catherine O'Hara may be back for Beetlejuice 2! Danny Elman is coming back to score the film also. Things are lining up for the ghost with the most!
Spider-Verse Sequel To Nearly Triple Opening Weekend Box Office Of Original
REFERENCE LINK: https://www.superherohype.com/movies/534311-spider-man-across-the-spider-verse-box-office-prediction
VIEWER EMAIL: Box Office Fan - Spider-verse 2 is looking to have a great opening but now looks like it may be a bigger one than we thought! They are now predicting a $70m to $80m opening! Would this be a win for sony or is sony expecting a bigger opening and if spider-verse 2 is a huge hit would other studios start making more animated comic books films? Maybe a batman beyond animated film for theatres?

JOHN’S THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Yesterday’s show was a good example of why I try to avoid politics and talk of politics on my show as much as possible. It’s not because I’m shy of political issues by any means. Not at all. But there are 2 main reasons:
1 - Regardless of whether you’re left or right, we are all movie fans. We are a very diverse race of beings, but film unifies us all when the magic of the movies is in effect. When Sam said “on your left” and the portals opened behind Captain America in Endgame, we all screamed and cheered together regardless if you voted for Biden or Trump in the last election.
2 - People become morons. No really… people become absolutely intolerable idiots when political issues arise and I just don’t get paid enough to deal with it.
So we decided to talk on the show yesterday about the ongoing Disney vs Ron DeSantis battle that’s been going on. We’ve never talked about it before, but a viewer called in asking the question about if Disney would consider pulling out of Florida or at the very least pulling their entertainment and production money out of the state, so we thought it was worth addressing.
Now remember, we were NOT talking about the “Don’t say gay” bill in the state. We simply referenced it as the initial cause of the dispute. Several times during the segment I said “We’re not talking about if you agree or disagree with the bill etc. etc. etc… we are simply talking about if Disney, the largest tax-paying entity in Florida and the #1 employer in the State, could potentially leave the state with all their money and all their jobs over the fact that DeSantis decided to use his political position to retaliate against Disney for expressing their opposition to his law. That’s it. That was the topic. That’s what we talked about. Not the bill. Not the controversy that started it. Not the part that has nothing to do with the matter at hand.
It didn’t matter. A ton of comments came in that tried to make it a political debate about the “Don’t say gay” bill, its merits, its problems, whatever. And to say it irritated me is an understatement. So yeah, when people ask me why I don’t often talk about political adjacent stories on the show… it’s because this happens. Every. Single. Time.
And don’t get me wrong. Politics are important. It’s important because politics affect people’s lives. I first got into law because I wanted to be more involved in the political arena. Heck, when I retire, one of the things I want to do with my time is volunteer in the offices of local politicians that I think are trying to make a difference in their communities and make people’s lives better. So I’m not dissing politics. I’m just saying that we as film fans often don’t seem to know how to even remotely engage a topic that has a small modicum of political overtones to it without it devolving into pure culture war political vitriol. And that’s kinda sad to me.
Maybe we’ll get better at it. Maybe I’ll get better at it. We’ll see.
