JOHN’S THOUGHTS
A little about Ray
So I thought it might be a good idea to take some time today to tell you guys a bit about Ray. The guys you’ve seen with me to one degree or another on AMC, Collider and now of The John Campea Show. Who is he? What does he do? And why are there so many pictures of him with my wife?
Well first of all Ray is my brother-in-law. He’s my wife Ann’s big brother (or “Kuya” as they say in Filipino). He’s the middle child of the family with Ann being the youngest and the oldest is big sister Olive (all in the picture above with their mom… my mother-in-law… yes the same one who said I dress like a Hobo and I’m still not sure if she believes I have an actual job. Anyway…)
Ray started working with me over 10 years ago when I started working with AMC and we decided we were going to start making videos. I needed someone who could do graphics work and Ray agreed to come to help me. He’s been with me ever since.
After I left Collider Ray was still there but eventually ended up working with me again as I started to get busier doing my own YouTube channel.
At this point Ray would probably want me to remind you that he isn’t a film critic. He’s not a film pundit either. The reason he doesn’t talk much on the show is because that’s not really primarily his job. His job is HUGE and includes, but isn’t limited to:
Doing research and fact checking for me
Putting info graphics together when I give him data sets
making ALL the thumbnails that go up on the YouTube channel
Filling out all the titling, descriptions and meta data on all the videos and podcasts we put up every day (this takes longer than you think)
Editing the audio version of the show every day and getting them to our podcast feeds
Editing, rendering, and uploading all the individual videos we shoot
Works with Jonathan in developing strategy and director for special editorial videos we do
Along with Jonathan, he’s also basically my advisor who I go to for input whenever I’m making major decisions that impact the company
He makes us all laugh… like every day. You have no idea how much we need that
A few odds and ends about Ray. He’s a collector, big sports fan, you’ll find him playing NBA on his X-Box almost every day, he’s a killer cook and bakes the most awesome stuff.
In short, I can’t imagine I’d be where I am today without Ray and I thought you should know a little more about him and what he does.
